DALI CONTROL
DALI-2 Control for Magnetic Track Lighting
DALI is a professional lighting control protocol used for dimming, grouping, scene control, and luminaire-level management. For magnetic track lighting projects, DALI is suitable when the project requires stable control, clear lighting groups, and professional commissioning.
DALI-2 improves interoperability and system reliability compared with earlier DALI systems. It is commonly used in villas, hotels, offices, showrooms, and commercial interiors where lighting control needs to be more structured and scalable.
Depending on the driver and luminaire configuration, DALI magnetic track lighting can support different control functions such as dimming, grouping, scene control, and tunable white control.
Stable Dimming
Suitable for professional dimming and controlled lighting scenes.
Group Control
Allows different lighting groups to be managed by room, zone, or function.
Scene Control
Useful for villas, showrooms, hotels, offices, and commercial interiors.
Project Commissioning
Requires proper driver selection, addressing, grouping, and commissioning.
DALI DETAILS
What Is the Difference Between DALI DT6 and DALI DT8?
DALI DT6 and DALI DT8 refer to different DALI device types and control methods.
DALI DT6 is commonly used for single-channel dimming, such as standard dimmable white lighting. Each output is usually controlled as a separate dimming channel.
DALI DT8 is used for multi-channel control within one DALI address, such as tunable white control, depending on the driver and luminaire configuration. For magnetic track lighting projects, DT8 is commonly considered when tunable white control is required.
The correct DALI type should be confirmed before ordering because it affects the driver, luminaire configuration, control panel, grouping, and commissioning method.
DALI DT6
Suitable for standard single-channel dimming and simple professional lighting control.
DALI DT8
Suitable for tunable white or multi-channel control when supported by the driver and luminaire configuration.
KNX INTEGRATION
Can DALI Magnetic Track Lights Work with KNX?
Yes. DALI magnetic track lights can work with KNX through a KNX-DALI gateway.
In many smart home and building automation projects, KNX does not directly control the magnetic track luminaires. Instead, DALI works as the lighting control layer, while KNX works as the building automation layer.
A KNX-DALI gateway allows KNX keypads, touch panels, sensors, and automation scenes to control DALI magnetic track lighting groups. This setup is suitable for villas, apartments, hotels, offices, and high-end smart home projects.

DALI Controls the Lights
DALI manages luminaire dimming, grouping, and lighting scenes.
KNX Controls the Home
KNX manages keypads, sensors, curtains, HVAC, room logic, and automation scenes.
Gateway Connection
A KNX-DALI gateway connects the KNX system with DALI lighting groups.
Best for Villas
DALI with KNX integration is often suitable for high-end villa and smart home projects.
CASAMBI CONTROL
Casambi Wireless Control for Magnetic Track Lighting
Casambi is a professional wireless lighting control solution that can be useful for renovation projects, showrooms, residential interiors, and commercial spaces where adding extra control cables is difficult.
With Casambi, lighting scenes, dimming, grouping, and app-based control can be configured wirelessly, depending on the selected driver and luminaire configuration. This makes it suitable for projects that need flexibility without complex control wiring.
Casambi is especially useful when the project requires professional wireless lighting control, flexible commissioning, and future scene adjustment.
Best For
Renovation Projects
Useful where additional control wiring is difficult to add.
Showrooms
Suitable for flexible scenes, product display lighting, and lighting adjustment.
Residential Interiors
Supports app-based control and scene setting for modern homes and apartments.
Flexible Commissioning
Allows easier adjustment of groups and scenes during or after installation.
ZIGBEE CONTROL
Zigbee Control and Philips Hue Compatibility
Topsund Zigbee magnetic track lights can be controlled through compatible Zigbee systems, including Philips Hue in suitable configurations. This allows users to create app control, dimming, scenes, and smart home lighting control when the Zigbee driver, pairing mode, and gateway are compatible.
However, control compatibility does not mean track compatibility. Topsund magnetic track lights cannot be installed into Philips Hue track rails because the track structure, adapter design, conductor position, and mechanical connection are different.
For safe installation and stable performance, Topsund magnetic track lights should be used with Topsund-compatible magnetic track profiles. If Philips Hue control is required, the lighting control configuration should be confirmed before ordering samples or project quantities.

Important Note
Philips Hue control compatibility is possible through a compatible Zigbee configuration, but Philips Hue track rail compatibility is not supported.
Zigbee App Control
Suitable for app control, scenes, dimming, and smart home lighting control.
Philips Hue Control
Possible in compatible Zigbee configurations, depending on the driver, gateway, and pairing method.
Track Compatibility
Topsund magnetic track lights must be installed in Topsund-compatible magnetic tracks, not Philips Hue track rails.
HYBRID CONTROL
Can I Use Normal Wall Switches with Smart Magnetic Track Lighting?
Yes, but the wiring and driver configuration must be planned correctly. A normal wall switch can provide basic on/off control, while dimming, tunable white, scenes, or app control require compatible drivers, gateways, smart switches, or relays.
For some residential projects, users want both wall switch control and app control. This can be possible when the system is designed as a hybrid control solution. The correct configuration depends on the driver type, control protocol, wall switch type, and smart home system.
For retrofit projects, wireless options such as Casambi or Zigbee may reduce control wiring complexity. For new villas or planned smart home projects, DALI and KNX integration should be considered before wiring.

Normal Wall Switch
Suitable for basic on/off control when dimming or scene control is not required.
Smart Wall Switch
