DALI-2 Control Built Around the M20 Track Platform
For wired DALI-2 magnetic track projects, Topsund uses the M20 four-wire 48V platform together with compatible DALI-2 luminaires and driver configurations.
The track platform, luminaire version, driver, control system, gateway, wiring and commissioning plan should be specified together. A luminaire is not automatically a DALI-2 luminaire simply because it is installed on the M20 track — the correct driver and control configuration must be selected for the project. The M20 four-wire platform is the Topsund track route for wired DALI-2 projects; the M26 ultra-slim two-wire platform uses a separate control architecture and should not be specified as the wired DALI-2 track solution.

How DALI-2 Works in the M20 Four-Wire Track System
A DALI-2 M20 project combines 48V low-voltage power distribution with a separate DALI control bus inside the same four-wire track platform. The 48V power supply, DALI bus power, control system, luminaires and commissioning strategy must be planned as one coordinated architecture.

DALI-2 SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
01 — 48V Power Supply
The SD-10048 converts AC mains power to 48V DC for the M20 magnetic track. It provides the luminaire power supply only and does not provide DALI bus power.
02 — DALI Bus Power & Controller
The DALI bus requires its own bus power supply. This can be provided by a separate DALI bus power supply or by a compatible DALI controller or control panel with an integrated bus power supply.
03 — M20 Four-Wire Track
The M20 track carries two conductors for 48V DC power and two separate conductors for the DALI bus, allowing power and lighting-control communication to be distributed through the same track platform.
04 — DALI-2 Luminaires
Each M20 DALI-2 luminaire has its own DALI driver and address. DT6 is available for fixed-white dimming, while DT8 (Tc) is available for Tunable White control from 2700K to 6000K.
05 — Control, Commissioning & Integration
The DALI control system manages individual addressing, grouping, dimming and scenes. Where required, the DALI-2 lighting layer can also connect to a wider building-control platform through an appropriate gateway.
TECHNICAL COMPATIBILITY NOTE
The SD-10048 provides 48V DC power to the M20 track. Its red and black DALI signal leads provide a direct connection between the external DALI bus and the two DALI signal conductors inside the four-wire track. The SD-10048 itself does not provide DALI bus power.

Plan the DALI-2 Control Route Before Commissioning
For a DALI-2 project, the driver type, individual addressing, groups, scenes, controller or gateway and commissioning route should be defined before the system is commissioned on site.

DALI-2
DALI-2 DT6 is used for fixed-white dimming. DALI-2 DT8 (Tc) supports Tunable White from 2700K to 6000K. Each compatible M20 luminaire has its own DALI driver and can be individually addressed.

KNX via DALI Gateway
For KNX projects, the M20 DALI-2 lighting layer can be integrated through a compatible DALI gateway, while KNX manages the wider room or building-control logic.

Casambi
Two routes are possible: compatible DALI-2 luminaires can be controlled through a suitable Casambi-to-DALI adaptor, or Direct Casambi can be specified as a separate luminaire-side architecture. Exact adaptor compatibility must be confirmed for the project.

Zigbee 3.0 / Philips Hue / Matter
Selected Zigbee 3.0 luminaires can be controlled through a Philips Hue Bridge. Matter is handled through a compatible gateway or control layer; the luminaire-side control remains Zigbee 3.0.
Compatibility principle
DALI-2, Casambi and Zigbee are not interchangeable at luminaire level. Confirm the luminaire driver, controller or gateway, wiring and system topology before final product configuration.

Power & Integration Architecture
Confirm the 48V power-supply locations, DALI controller and bus-power arrangement, and whether the system is standalone DALI-2 or integrated with another control platform.

On-Site Commissioning
Addressing, grouping, scene programming, gateway configuration and final functional testing are completed on site according to the installed luminaire positions and final control design. Topsund does not currently provide project pre-addressing before shipment.
